B.I.V. (blue, indigo, violet)

European Linden & artist oils 2025
This work isolates a segment of the visible spectrum—blue, indigo, and violet—allowing color progression to define a structure of form. Derived from the winged eye-ball motif associated with the visual language of the Grateful Dead, the image shifts from symbol to perception.
The central eye remains fixed, while the wings carry a measured transition across color. The object resolves not through outline, but through graduation.
In carving and painting this piece, the emphasis moves towards calibration. Color becomes structural, requiring balance across the surface. edge and form.
Within The Eleven Collection, B.I.V. introduces a perceptual dimension—where the work is read not only as an image but as progression.
