Among the most enduring images associated with the visual language of the Grateful Dead, the winged eyeball distills perception, movement, and symbol into a single form.

Suspended rather than framed, the piece occupies space differently from the wall-based works in The Eleven Collection. It introduces motion—not depicted, but implied—through balance and placement.

In carving this form, the challenge shifts from surface to structure. The object must hold itself in space, where proportion, weight, and alignment become part of the composition.

As part of a pair within the collection, the flying eyeballs extend the work beyond image into environment.
